In Memory

Olaf Anker Tenlen

Olaf Anker Tenlen

I received a nice note from Olaf Tenlen's wife, Marsha.

She remembered the 10th Lincoln High reunion because that was the only one they attended. They had been married in March of 1971, She remembers not seeing him for quite some time, that night as he was excited to see some of his classmates.

Oly's birthday falls on August 16th just one day before our party, I am sad to say but my Oly passed away on August 4th, 2022. He had only been in an adult care home for 16 days. They took very good care of him. I don't know if you knew Oly, but he was a tall, dark, and handsome man when we met and continued to stay that way. He had a mustache and enjoyed being funny.

He is now free of pain, but it's very hard to accept his being gone but is in a better place.

We had 52 years together. He was so proud of our two daughters and two grandsons.

I hope you have a lot of enjoyment at your reunion.  Marsha Tenlen

Olaf and I were pals early in our lives. Our parents attended the same church and we went to Sunday school together along with many church functions. Luther league for teens and finally Confirmation. Oly was unassuming and gracious and fun to be around. It's good to hear he remained the same good natured man in his adult years. Thinking about Oly now makes me grateful for our shared values as kids who grew up in the 40's and 50's.  Rest now, Oly.
