June 9, 1944 – December 23, 2023

Burlington, WA- Carol Elizabeth Phillips passed away peacefully at HomePlace Memory Care on December 23, 2023, after many years of living with Alzheimer's disease.

Born on June 9, 1944, in Seattle, WA, she grew up with her sisters Christine, Robyn, and brother Robert. She graduated from Shoreline High School in 1962. She graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Elementary Education and worked for the Bellingham School District for thirty years. During that time, she also completed her Masters Degree in Education from WWU. She was a beloved teacher and was honored and proud to be an educator. After retirement, she moved into watching her grandchildren until they were all school-age. They were indeed her greatest joys.

Carol will be remembered for her unlimited kindness and selflessness. She was an animal lover, often fostering kittens and cats before adoption. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed traveling and meeting her friends for coffee dates. She cherished time with her sisters and her grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Carolyn Broderick, and her sister, Christine Andrews. She is survived by her son, Jeff Phillips: her daughter Kristen Mounts and son in law James Mounts; her grandchildren Jaden and Andi Phillips, and Logan, Grace and Connor Mounts; her sister Robyn Riley, brother Robert Broderick: and many extended family members and cherished friends.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date TBD. Please share memories and stories at www.molesfarewelltributes.com.

The family would like to thank the wonderful Hospice of the Northwest staff for their exceptional support and guidance in Carol’s final weeks and the staff and caregivers of HomePlace Burlington and Ashley Gardens of Mount Vernon.
