Martha A. (Marti) Gillespie (Stumbaugh)Martha Ann Stumbaugh passed from this life on December 3, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 79. Martha was born on December 15, 1944, to Luther and Devonia (Wheaton) Gillespie in Jackson, Mississippi. She grew up in Seattle, Washington and graduated from Lincoln High School. Martha lived in Hawaii for a year after that. Martha helped her husband, Paul, at his law firm in Mangum for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 40 years and served as a two-time president. Martha has been a board member of the Rattlesnake Derby Association since 1967. She was president as well. Martha was a member of Delta Delta ESA and the Mangum Bridge Club for over 24 years, and volunteered at the Clinton Veterans Home, where she brought gifts for Christmas. She was always taking care of Veterans. Martha always advocated for animals. She loved Japanese artwork and knick-knacks. Martha enjoyed history and loved to travel. She loved being there for her grandkids and telling stories about the family. Martha loved her Diet Cokes and coffee, taking walks at the park, going to Sonic, eating ice cream, and traveling with her grandkids. Martha is survived by son Hal Stumbaugh, daughter Lisa Raby, brothers Dave, Wes, Denver Gillespie, and Michael Pahl, sisters Bonnie Gillespie, Holly Cornett, Muriel Bryant, Lynda Orbik, grandchildren Paul Monroe, Devonia Bogart, William Monroe, David Raby, great grandchildren Elijah Monroe, Ethan Monroe, Remington Bogart, Kynsie Monroe, Paisley Monroe, Liam Monroe, Chevy Bogart, Scarlett Bogart, Ella Rose Bogart, Dakoda Raby, Sammy Raby and Jackson Raby. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Devonia, her husband, Paul, her stepmother, Muriel Gillespie, her brothers, William and George Gillespie, and her sister, Donna Gillespie.
Services for Martha will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Mangum, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, December 9, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., also at the First Methodist Church in Mangum.
