Joan C. Campbell (Sundberg)

It is with tremendous heartbreak that the family of Joan Catherine Sundberg announces her passing on January 21, 2019 at the age of 74 following a courageous battle with colon cancer. Joan will be lovingly remembered by Steve, her husband of 52 years, her children Mark and his wife Tracy and Beth and her husband Greg and her four granddaughters, Emily, Kate, Isabel and Lydia, her sisters Jeannette Becker and Marylin Ferrel and husband Vernon and her nieces and nephews. Joan was born in Seattle, Washington on June 28, 1944 to Reverend Doctor Alexander and Mary Campbell. She simultaneously graduated from Seattle Pacific College and the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Joan wore many hats in her lifetime including nurse, volunteer librarian at her children's school, water commissioner, and entrepreneur. She and her husband Steve built a successful family business that continues to thrive today. Joan was a social activist who loved travelling the world with her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of loving graciousness, concern for others and a boundless joy of life. Joan adored her family and reveled in her granddaughter's accomplishments, big or small. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Magnolia Presbyterian Church, Seattle, WA at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions can be made to the University of Washington Foundation. Please include Joan Sundberg - Colon Cancer on the memo line. The funds will be used to support the research of Dr. Stacey Cohen for colon cancer research. Donations can be mailed to:

Joan was a roommate and cheerleader with me in college at Seattle Pacific University. We had such fun and laughs!! Thinking of her brings back wonderful memories.  My thoughts are with her family at this time

Joan was one of my first friends at Interlake Elementary. Our friendship continued on through Hamilton and Lincoln. May there be peace to her memory and comfort to her family. Rest in peace dear friend.
