Shirley will be missed by Eric Johnson, her partner of 50 years, along with her sister, Rhoda Chevara, brothers Edward Zaic, and Larry Zaic, and additional extended family.

Born and educated in Seattle, Shirley spent a couple of years during her college career working in California. She attended Christ the King Grade School, attended Blanchette High School. She then graduated from Lincoln High School, University of Washington with a BA in Business, and Seattle University with an MBA. She became a CPA and worked most of her career as the Controller and Corporate Secretary for local businesses that were eventually sold to international companies: Manus Direct (eventually purchased by Bowne), Learning World, and Gerry Sportswear. For 15 years she operated White Water Sports with Eric Johnson, actively selling canoes, kayaks, cross-country ski equipment, and windsurfers. She participated in all these activities, in addition to downhill skiing, sailing, and snorkeling.

As a lifetime patron of live theater, ballet, symphony, and opera, Shirley enjoyed all the performance arts. She served on the Governing Board of Pacific Northwest Ballet until her death.

Shirley continually reminded all of us that: "Life is Good!"

Remembrances in her name are welcome to Pacific Northwest Ballet.
