Lynne J. Cregan (Newhouse-Santos)

Lynne J. Cregan (Newhouse-Santos)

Lynne (Lyda) Cregan Newhouse Santos was born September 30, 1944, in Seattle to James and Kathleen Cregan. She set sail for her next adventure on April 19, 2023. Lynne's home was always full of family and friends, her hospitality challenging to overstate. In her final days, laughter and the scent of home cooking filled the hoe as we took turns seeking an audience with our Irish Queen, sitting or laying next to each other, caressing her hand as we spoke of love and thanks.

Lynne is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 30 years, Marlon Santos; children, foster children, sisters, brothers and grandsons, niece and nephews.

Lynne was preceded in death by parents, James and Kathleen Cregan; and foster parents, Becky and Herbert Barnes.

Lynne and Marlon recently completed a 30-year endeavor to bring the fantastic Santos family to Alaska: Mother Lourdes and brother Jon (Dina) family; sister, Marilou (Norman) Bautista; brother, Marcos (Rachel) family; and sister, Mable.

Lynne was raised in Seattle and moved to Sunnyside, Wash., with her husband, Wayne Newhouse (deceased). They farmed hops, grapes and had an orchard in the valley. They were surrounded by a huge family with many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Lynne was an active community member, serving with NOVELLA, the Hospital Auxiliary, Valley Memorial Hospital, and the Family Violence Resource Center. Lynne was the first woman elected into Sunnyside Rotary.
